Dr.Deepa G., Assistant Professor of History,
Post Graduate Department of History, Co- Operative Arts and Science College Madayi,
Kannur, Kerala. She is a research guide of Herman Gundert Central Library, Kannur Under
University Kannur University. She completed her post Graduate Degree in History from
Department of History, NSS College, Manjeri. Her PhD on “The Politics of Food and
Cuisine: Religion, Power and Gender in the Making of Food in Colonial Malabar” (Research
Supervisor: Dr. E.N. Lakshmanan, Department of History, Sree Sankaracharya University of
Sanskrit, Kalady), and MPhil on “The Food Culture of Eranad: A Historical Study from
Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady. During her doctoral studies she
received junior research fellowship of Kerala Council for Historical Research. Her area
of interest is Gender History and Cultural History. She has authored the book Kerala
Bhakshana Charithram (The History of Kerala Food )Published by DC Books. Cultural
Transformation in Europe, Co-authored with Dr. Shalima Published by Calicut University

papers in International journals and National level Journals and books. And she has
presented 10 plus research papers in international as well as national level
